I'm not the biggest foodie but here's a couple of food discoveries i made recently which i think is worth trying!
1. Salute Coffeeshop 119 Bukit Merah Lane 1, Block 119, Singapore 151119
A one of a kind place serving 7 different types of cuisine housed under a regular coffeshop setting!
From top to bottom:
Sea Bass with Moilee sauce, coconut milk, mustard and ginger.
Halibut vs king prawn with roti potato, lime marmalade, candy almond and rep capsicum sauce.
Ripper's Classic Burger.
It's a really unique way of serving affordable cafe style delicacies in your local casual setting, without scrimping on quality! My favourite has got to be the seabass because i love fish!
2. Beast and Butterflies 90 Robertson Quay, Level 1, 238259 (M Social Hotel)
We ordered the signature Lobster Porridge and Cody Mee as it comes with Cod fish. Now you know how much i like fish.
The lobster porridge is good value considering you get half a lobster, abalone and scallop.
The cod fish accompanying the crispy noodles is great! However, the vegetables and noodles were average. I also wished the portion was bigger, especially for a hungry person like me.
On the overall, i think the ambience is lovely and cozy, plus you get a live band serenading you on weekends. (not sure about weekdays)
3. Malaysian Coffeeshop Food
Kuala Lumpur, near Kapong
I don't know how Malaysian Tofu and Fishcake can be so amazing!
Their fishcake is sooo yummy i wonder how they do it. Here we tried the Curry Mee with loads of seafood, they are really generous about it. But unfortunately, i don't eat clams/oysters etc, so i can't appreciate it to its fullest. The gravy however, is special, its not watery, looks spicy but isn't spicy, yet flavorful.
Having this curry mee in hot malaysian weather is like going to the gym. End result: drenched.
I'm sorry i don't know the exact name of the place as it was a friend's recommendation and we just followed him. But perhaps the writing on the bowl might give it away.
We were in KL, and this is near Kapong.
4. Burgers and Lobsters
Level 1, SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting, 69000 Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang, Malaysia
This was hands down the best meal i had in Genting! We queued for slightly more than an hour. Luckily the rest had started queuing at 11am, and we only got a seat at slightly past 12 as we had a big group.
Turns out the wait was worth it!
I had the signature Lobster Roll and my my, it was sooo yummy. Everything from the bun to the lobster, to the sauce.
I will definitely come back. Price is on the high side, approx $52++ per person, but you'll feel satisfied paying for this one.
That's all i have for now! Thanks for reading. xx
